Besides teaching, was there any other added value that Prof. Lippert provided?
Besides teaching, was there any other added value that Prof. Lippert provided?
Professor Lippert has provided a great place to learn. He always checks on you to see how you’re doing. If you’re having an off day in class, he’ll pull you aside ask why. Professor Lippert is one of the countless teachers that I’ve had who cares about his students. I used to hate waking up early for class and going to school but now I actually look forward to coming and learning new things. Professor Lippert has taught me how to be more than just a protocol medic. He’s taught me how to actually care for the patient as opposed to looking at it as just another call. I couldn’t think of a better instructor for a paramedic program than Professor Lippert.
Did you learn something that made a difference in patient care (i.e. learning and identifying an MI in a 12 lead, resuscitating a child, placing an advanced airway in a patient, etc.)
One thing that stands out to me is lead placement for a 12 lead ekg. Professor Lippert taught us that you can get a clearer picture if you place the limb leads on the actual limb as opposed to near the shoulders and belly. I’ve been able to make a couple of my 12 leads clearer as a result of this teaching.
Were there any specific patient saves you had as a result of your training?
I haven’t had any saves in my very short career yet. However, from doing scenarios or covering class material I feel that I could manage an emergency thanks to Professor Lippert.
Did Prof. Lippert encourage you to perform better?
Yes, 100%. Before I started my second semester I talked to Professor Lippert about anxiety and managing shift times. He told me that it seems like a lot now but once you’re done it’ll be worth it. He suggested I get a planner to better help plan out my days and times which helped tremendously. When we review calls Professor Lippert will ask is there anything you would’ve done different or he’ll ask how do you feel you did on the call.
What are the achievements you are proud of as a result of the training?
I feel that I’ve really learned the material that I need to be a paramedic. Professor Lippert has done an excellent job teaching the material and I’m proud of myself for learning it. Just recently I had a call precepting which was a pediatric seizure. From the training I received in my Special Populations class I was able to keep calm and get control of the situation and I couldn’t have done that without the training that was taught to me.
Do you feel our evaluations are fair?
Absolutely. One I like about the evaluations is they ask your opinion on how you feel you did instead of just making the evaluation.
How easy is it to approach me with questions or concerns?
I would say talking to Professor Lippert about a question or a concern is the easiest thing in the program. He always has answers for his students and makes himself available. Not once have I had a question or concern left unanswered, and if he wasn’t sure he found the answer for you.
What do you like most about this class, program, or training, or training?
My favorite thing about this class is the atmosphere. Professor Lippert has always provided a safe place to learn and a place where we can talk comfortably about bad calls we’ve had precepting or even from our job. Our class is laid back and I always feel like I can talk to Professor Lippert about anything.
